The CSUF Athletic Training Program (ATP) is a full-time professional program that prepares students to become athletic trainers. The American Medical Association recognizes athletic training as a health care profession. Students will complete traditional didactic coursework and concurrent clinical education experiences, emphasizing clinical reasoning skills that encompass the prevention, diagnosis and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations and disabilities.

Upon successfully completing the ATP, students earn a Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) degree and are eligible to take the Board of Certification (BOC, Inc.) exam and earn the ATC credential. While our program has the highest possible pass rate (100%) for first-time test takers on the Board of Certification examination over the past 6 years, successful completion of the MSAT program does not guarantee passing the national BOC certification exam.

The MSAT degree requires 57 units of coursework to be delivered full-time over two academic years on campus. Each academic year begins in the summer (approx. mid- to late-June each year) with students required to be continuously enrolled for the summer, fall, and spring semesters over two years.
